| Page 81,25 Page 225,26 Killed by the Indians during King William's War at the Cocheco Massacre in Cocheco, New Hampshire. John Evans was chained to a barn and burned to death. John and his brother Robert came to Dover from Wales before 1665 when Robert was "received as an inhabitant". In 1672 John had a house in Dover. On 29 Sept. 1679 the court ordered John to survey a disputed boundary to which he signed an official statement 7 Oct. 1679. John also served as town clerk for many years John was killed by the Indians in 1689 when they captured the Walderne Garrison: "killed 23 persons, principal of which... Mr. Leigh, Mr. Evans, Richard Otis, etc." (http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/9211/EVANS.htm) On page 381 of Old Families of Salisbury and Amesbury it states that John Evans was born 1632 in Wales.
